While San Francisco is the West Coast capital of tech startups, New York is undoubtedly the closest East Coast equivalent. Many startup unicorns (ie. TripleLift, Katapult) were conceived in New York, and received their first funding from notable NYC startup accelerators like ERA.

As part of our going series of free fundraising resources and investor lists for founders, this article will explore the top 10 startup accelerators (ranked by the number of portfolio companies) based in New York, with details on each accelerator’s investment focus, history and portfolio size.

Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator (ERA) is New York City’s leading technology accelerator and early-stage venture capital fund. It has invested in 330+ start-ups since launching in 2011. ERA runs two four-month sessions per year one each in the winter and summer. They invest $150,000 on a post-money SAFE in return for 6% of each company selected. Starta Accelerator is an Accelerator specializing in technology startups with European R&D roots. It seeks to invest in technology companies. Starta Accelerator seeks to invest in Eastern Europe with a focus on Russia. It seeks to invest $130,000 of which $110,000 in Program Services and $20,000 Cash in both program value and cash in exchange for 7 percent equity and also provides an additional $20,000 to startups that perform well in the program. Starta Accelerator runs a 14-week acceleration program and a 3.5 month mentorship program. It began operation in 2015, with its headquarters in New York City as a subsidiary of Starta Ventures.

ICONYC labs is a accelerator firm specializes in early-stage and startups. It invests in early-stage Israeli tech startups looking to accelerate growth and cut time to market. ICONYC seeks investments in Enterprise Software, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Health, Drones, Fintech, Digital Media. Arie Abecassis and Eyal Bino founded it on March 29, 2015, with its headquarters in New York City.
